Reflected vs. transmitted lighting

I've just started some work with fabric/draping/lighting and found this progression from (more) reflective to more) transmitted lighting intriguing.










Nothing slick here on the lighting: just one or two consumer LED spots (low temperatures are much friendlier around gauzy fabric!).

Note: My ability to get shots like this had a lot to do with my camera being able to be pushed to an ISO of 25K.
